Rome 2024 Part 2

This day starts off when we go on a day trip to Pompeii and Positano. I have been to Pompeii in 2014 and it was amazing but since then they have discovered more artifacts and I was really excited to go again.

I love these first stops at a gas station/cafe/market.

Walking into Pompeii, beautiful day and couldn’t believe how empty it was!

Even when we did run into people it wasn’t very many

The bath house had some top notch drainage and original piping

Lots of original artwork still in great condition and all people had to do was pick what they wanted

It started to lightly drizzle so we found shelter under this greenery

We had some time before our allotted time slot so of course we stopped for some gelato

Again, so empty! I love traveling during March now because low crowds and great weather!

Their Modern Art Collection is really good and so happy I was able to see it all on my own pace after the guide left us.

Again, loved all the modern art that led to the Sistine Chapel

It is always a delight to the Sistine Chapel but alas pictures are still not allowed and even though I saw a lot of people taking pictures and breaking the rules I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

They only have one rule and it seems crazy that people just can’t abide to it

Logan loved mailing post card to all of his friends and was even more excited to send one from Vatican City

Waiting to go to the Basilica and it went pretty fast, I think we waited 15/20 min

What a beauty! Michangelo was I think 23 years old and man I sometimes think what am I doing with my life when people create such greatness so young

Swiss guards are always cool to see and we watched the changing of the guard too

I am obsessed with this melon and Prosciutto appetizer. I have made it a constant in our household since coming back

I mainly ate steak every time we went out to dinner, I shared with the kids and would have some of their pasta

Nightly walks with the family always have us at the Trevi Fountain

I just love the Spanish Steps! Right next to them has the Keats and Shelley museum and I love that museum so much! Sadly, we never made it to see it open but that just means another trip will be planned so I can go in again and go gaga over everything poetry
